Most of what science knows about how skin ages at the molecular level comes from a narrow group of people. Skin types III to V — the majority of the world — are barely represented in the research.
We're changing that.
01 · What we're working on: REGION-SKIN
REGION-SKIN is a multi-country study of how skin ages in richly pigmented skin. Using a simple, non-invasive skin sample, we read the epigenetic marks that record sun exposure and time. We pair that with nutritional and genetic data to answer a question no one has resolved at scale: how does what happens inside the body shape how skin ages on the outside?
Five cities. From the equator to northern Europe.
One goal: science that reflects the people it left out.
